CARES Act 30-Day Report

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (Cares Act) were passed on March 27, 2020. The information contained in this report is being provided in accordance with Sections 18004(a)(1) and 18004(c) of the CARES Act. Under these sections, the CARES Act will provide students and institutions emergency financial aid grants and financial support through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).
The Trumbull Career & Technical Center acknowledges that it has signed and returned the Funding Certification & Agreement to receive CARES Act funds on May 12, 2020. TCTC has agreed to use no less than 50% of the funds received through section 18004(a)(1) to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students through the HEERF.
The Trumbull Career & Technical Center received $636,500 of which a minimum of $279,109 of these funds will be distributed to students for Emergency Financial Aid Grants. Below is information as of July 12, 2022.

The Federal Government instructed institutions to determine which students would be eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants through the CARES Act. TCTC was able to determine a list of students based on their FAFSA, loan eligibility, and those who were actively participating in courses and programs on or after March 13, 2020.
Once this list was finalized, an application created by the career center and was posted on the financial aid website. From here, students were sent an email correspondence with instructions on how to apply for the grant. Additionally certified letters with instructions on how to apply were also mailed to eligible students with the addresses on file requiring a signature upon delivery. Lastly, phone calls will be made to any student who has yet to apply for the funds a week before the application deadline. Once the application deadline passes funds will be distributed to students equally the following month based on the number of accepted applicants.
