BPA National Awards

Trumbull Career & Technical Center (TCTC) students advanced to the 2021 National Leadership Competition hosted by the Business Professionals of America (BPA) where three teams earned first, second, and third place at the national competition. 

BPA is a career and technical student organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology, and other related career fields. Students are presented with opportunities to learn and achieve through skills competitions at the local, state, and national levels.

The national competition originally scheduled to take place in Orlando took place virtually from April 26 - May 9, 2021. The awards ceremony was held earlier this week where junior and senior students from the TCTC’s interactive multimedia program earned the following:

1st Place - Virtual Branding (Best of Show)

  • Mikayla Bloom, Senior, Champion High School
  • Breanna Bucci, Senior, LaBrae High School
  • Darren King, Senior, Lakeview High School
  • Dominic Vehar, Senior, Mathews High School


2nd Place - Computer Animation Team

  • Kaitlyn Beach, Junior, Newton Falls High School
  • Mikayla Bloom, Senior, Champion High School
  • Olivia Gray, Junior, LaBrae High School
  • Dominic Vehar, Senior, Mathews High School


3rd Place - Virtual Branding

  • Andrea Angel, Junior, Warren G. Harding High School
  • Emma Ross, Junior, Champion High School
  • Tara Wertz, Junior, Warren G. Harding High School

“It’s a huge accomplishment for our students to place this high at nationals. I’m really proud of them and the quality of work they produce,” said TCTC program instructor Kristofer Doran. “The BPA National Leadership Conference is equally competitive to any sport or extracurricular competition at the high school level. To achieve something like this makes them all the more employable after graduation or prepared for further education.”
